New Cabinet ministers' average age in Latvia is 48

The average age of ministers in the new government of Laimdota Straujuma is 47.9, and their average length of service in previous Cabinets is 28 months, according to information compiled by LETA.

Ten out of 14 government members are men, four are women. On the average, one minister has 2.4 children. The new Finance Minister Janis Reirs (Unity) has most children, whereas Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkevics (Unity) is the only childless minister.

 

Defense Minister Raimonds Vejonis (Greens/Farmers) has the longest experience of working in the government – 116 months, whereas three ministers – Education and Science Minister Marite Seile, Economy Minister Dana Reizniece-Ozola (Greens/Farmers) and Health Minister Guntis Belevics (Greens/Farmers) – are newcomers.

 

Laimdota Straujuma is the oldest government member, she is 63, whereas Economy Ministre Dana Reizniece-Ozola is the youngest – 33.

 

Most ministers in the new government have no shares in any companies. Rinkevics has the largest amount of savings – EUR 231,291, whereas Interior Minister Rihards Kozlovskis (Unity) is last in this respect with EUR 1,606 in savings.

 

On the other hand, Reirs has the largest amount of debts – EUR 168,315, while seven government ministers have no debts at all.
