Professor Hazans: current population of Latvia about 1.975 mln

"The Central Statistical Bureau most likely will announce today that there are less than two million people living in Latvia, but the bureau's figure could be just slightly under two million. In reality, there are 25,000 people less," Hazans said.
Hazans explained that the difference is because the Central Statistical Bureau's estimate of the number of people who have left the country is too low, and the estimate of the number of immigrants is too high.
The Central Statistical Bureau will hold a press conference today, in which the population data for Latvia in 2013 will be presented.
The Central Statistical Bureau will also inform about migration – how many residents of Latvia have left the country and how many have come to live in Latvia.
