Each country which introduces the euro has a right to issue circulation coins with one common and one national side. However, same euro banknotes are used all over the European Union.
Lithuanian circulation euro coins will feature three images with Lithuania's coat of arms symbol Vytis. They were created by sculptor Antanas Zukauskas. The first samples of 2015 edition euro coins with Lithuanian national side should be produced by UAB Lietuvos Monetu Kalykla (the Lithuanian Mint) this spring.
Lithuania expects to meet the Maastricht criteria for the euro adoption and introduce the new currency on 1 January 2015.
