Ansip: Estonia has a lot to offer to Europe

BC, Tallinn, 06.11.2013.Print version
Estonian Prime Minister Andrus Ansip said at the government's European Union policy discussion on Tuesday in Riigikogu that although the share of EU in the world economy is big, there are spheres where Europe has to make efforts so that Europe would be reckoned with in the 21st century, reports BC the government communication unit.

"Europe must first and foremost make efforts for creating the digital internal market," said Ansip. "Currently the domestic market is still fragmented into 28 different markets."

Ansip said that Estonia can offer working solutions to Europe and one of these things is digital signature.

Ansip said that the EU also has to work so that the principle of one-time submission of data and reuse of personal data would be implemented in developing the services a member state offers, as well as in cross-border sense. The principle of one-time submission of data that is used in Estonia since 2007, was included in the conclusions of the latest European Council meeting.

Ansip said that coordination of budgets of euro area states and measures to restore the financial sector credibility and health have already started to have positive effects. The most important European level measure to solve European problems is that the long-term budget would be approved fast.

Ansip thanked the Riigikogu and European Parliament members and state officials for successful EU budgetary talks that resulted in harmonising competition conditions for Estonian farmers and guarantees Estonia investments that, when invested wisely and combined with reforms, give an impetus to the development of the state.

Ansip reminded that in 2014, Estonia will have been a member of the EU for ten years. Ansip called to believe in ourselves and in that Estonia has a lot to offer to make Europe stronger and better functioning.
