Latvia's population is affected by a negative natural increase – 0.5%, and a negative migration level – four migrants per 1,000 residents. Latvia, alongside Taiwan, also has the world's lowest fertility rate – 1.1 children per woman of reproductive age.
The report estimates that Latvia's population will reduce to 1.9 million by the middle of 2025 and 1.6 million by 2050.
According to the report, Moldova will face the steepest decrease population in 2012-2050. Moldova's population will reduce from 4.1 million in 2012 to 2.6 million in 2050.
The Population Reference Bureau also estimates that Lithuania's population will decline from 3.2 million to 2.7 million.
The largest increase in population is predicted in Niger – from 16.3 million in 2012 to 54.2 million in 2050.
