Lithuanian industrial output drops by 13.1% in May

Industrial production in Lithuania decreased sharply in May 2012, after increasing in the previous month, Statistics Lithuania said Thursday, RTTNews reports.

Industrial production fell by 14.6% on an annual basis in May, reversing the previous month's 7% gain. In March, output had increased 5.9% from last year, writes LETA/ELTA.
Mining and quarrying production plunged 17.4% year-on-year during the month, while manufacturing output dropped 14.8%. There was an 11.6% annual decrease in the production of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply during the month.
On a monthly basis, industrial output dropped 13.1% during the month, faster than the 5.5% decline registered in April, the agency said.
