President of Estonia recognizes volunteers and promoters of voluntary work

Special recognition as volunteer leaders was awarded to Piret Ehavald and Svetlana Varjun, writes LETA.
Piret Ehavald is the volunteer's coordinator of European Capital of Culture Tallinn 2011 who has been characterized by her volunteers as a great organizer and motivator. She has promoted voluntary work for all kinds of people and different age groups and has created a remarkably large base of volunteers. More than 500 volunteers have been active at the events and programs of the European Capital of Culture during the last few years.
The other awarded volunteer leader Svetlana Varjun has dedicated her time and effort to the program of NGO Estonian Mental Health Association that aims to raise children’s self confidence and trust into people.
The organization that has most promoted the voluntary work of the employees is Estonian Bar Association that has created a lasting and strategic cooperation by giving pro bono legal advice to organizations supported by Good Deed Foundation.
Altogether 73 candidates were presented for the awards.
