Kampars took office on March 12, 2009.
Before Kampars, the title of the longest-serving economy minister was held by Aigars Kalvitis, who worked as economy minister from May 5, 2000 to November 7, 2002.
Guntars Krasts is in third place – he was in office from December 22, 1995 to August 7, 1997.
On the other hand, Ingrida Udre had the briefest stint as economy minister – from May 20, 1999 to July 16 of the same year.
As reported, Kampars has decided not to run in the upcoming 11th Saeima elections.
Kampars said he had decided to devote all his time and effort to the further development of the Unity party.
