President Grybauskaitė and the South Korean parliamentary speaker discussed bilateral relations, ways to strengthen economic cooperation ties, and prospects for collaboration in information and communication technologies.
"South Korea is a strong leader in Southeast Asia, which can open wide ranging cooperation, economic and investment opportunities for Lithuania in this rapidly developing region," the President said.
Among the other issues discussed were democratic institutions, their set-up and constitutional powers, and enhancing women's leadership.
Park Hee-tae emphasized that he was delighted to visit Lithuania, a country with a female president, a female speaker of parliament, a female finance minister, and a female defense minister. Strong and wise Lithuanian women were guiding Lithuania on the path of peaceful and successful progress, he said.
During the meeting, President Dalia Grybauskaitė stressed the importance of the international events to be held in South Korea next year: the Seoul Nuclear Safety Summit and the Yeosu World Expo focusing on marine environmental issues.
