In one year, since the entry into force of new domain regulations, 61,300 domains have been registered in Estonia, writes LETA, referring to EPL Online.

This demonstrates that 46 ".ee-domains" have been registered per each 1,000 residents.

"In one year, we have passed Latvia and Lithuania in terms of number of domains per capita," said the CEO of the foundation Eesti Interneti Marek-Andres Kauts.

According to him, such developments indicate that there is great interest in using ".ee" domain names. In Latvia, 40 domains per 1,000 residents have been registered and in Lithuania the number is 43. In Finland the indicator is 50 and in Sweden 118.

In March 2011, the polling company Saar Poll carried out a survey among those who had registered ".ee" domains and the results indicated that 91% of respondents were satisfied with the fact that now one person can register several domain names. 82% of respondents were satisfied with the right to register names given to private citizens, 62% with the two-level registration system.

A year ago, the new domain regulations entered into force, making domains with ".ee"-ending more accessible for individuals and for enterprise.
