Average life expectancy in Latvia continues to gradually increase

The average life expectancy of newborns in Latvia continues to gradually increase, according to data from the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB).

In 2009, the average life expectancy of newborn females in Latvia was 78.1 years, but males – 68.3 years, informs LETA.

 

Since Latvia regained independence in 1991, the lowest life expectancy for newborns was recorded in 1995 – 73.1 years for females and 60.8 years for males.

 

On the other hand, in 2001, the life expectancy for newborn females in Latvia was 76.6 years, but males – 65.2 years.
