Construction of Southern Bridge in Riga to be completed in November 2008

Construction of the Southern (Dienvidu) Bridge across the Daugava River in Riga will be completed already in November, and construction of the overpasses connecting the bridge to Krasta Street and Maskavas street even before that, as informed Dmitrijs Bahmanovs from the joint-stock Dienvidu tilts.

The Southern Bridge.

At this time, work on the overpasses is in full swing and proceeds on schedule. The Southern Bridge will be partly open for traffic already at the end of November, as LETA was informed.

 

The Southern Bridge will be 34.28 meters wide, 803 meters long with three lanes in each direction, plus cycling tracks and sidewalks. The construction of the bridge started in November 2004.

 

The bridge is being constructed by Dienvidu tilts, which unites six Latvian bridge construction companies: Skonto buve, Latvijas tilti, BMGS, Tilts, Rigas tilti and Viadukts.
