E-Tax Board was used for more income tax returns than ever

Juhan Tere, BC, Tallinn, 31.05.2008.Print version
Individuals submitted 491,257 income tax returns on their income earned in 2007. This is more than 88% while the number of e-declarations grew by nearly 7.8%.

96% of customers who were entitled to receive compensation on overpaid income tax and who submitted their tax returns via e-Tax Board received the compensation in five working days, writes ETV24/LETA.

The Director General of the Tax and Customs Board Enriko Aav stated that the proportion of digital declarations has reached a rather optimum level. “There are always situation where submitting a paper declaration could be more convenient for an individual and hence we must still be prepared to receive the income tax returns in the service bureaus,” said Aav. He noted, however, that the board prefers to develop web-based submission of documents and it is remarkable that this year the proportion of digital declarations grew as well – from 86% to 88%.

E-Tax Board interface is still most used in submitting tax returns by the residents of the Järva County (in 96.9% of cases) whereas the proportion was the lowest in the Võru County (in 79.9% of cases).
