Agreement on setting up European Global Navigation Satellite System validated

The provisions of Regulation lay down the terms under which the Agency must perform its task concerning security accreditation of the systems, website for the EU Presidency eu2013.lt informed.
Regulation establishes the Security Accreditation Board for European GNSS systems which, alongside the Administrative Board and the Executive Director, is one of the three bodies of the Agency.
By 2016 at the latest, and every five years thereafter, the Commission shall arrange an evaluation of the Agency, concerning, in particular, its impact, effectiveness, smooth running, working methods, requirements and use of the resources entrusted to it.
The Chair of the Committee Deputy Permanent Representative of Lithuania to the EU ambassador Vinciunas thanked all Member States and the Commission for the constructive approach shown along the examination of this proposal in the Council. He also thanked the European Parliament for flexibility shown in the informal trilogue negotiations, which led to timely agreement on this important legislative dossier in the field of transport.
Ambassador Vinciunas signed a letter to be sent to the Chair of the ITRE Committee to confirm the first reading agreement. The provisional agreement between the co-legislators was reached ad referendum at the informal trilogue on 5 December 2013.
