In an interview on this morning's edition of the "Latvijas Neatkariga televizija" (LNT) news program "900 Seconds", European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) judge Ineta Ziemele said that the Deniss Calovskis case could take the ECHR up to a year to review, reported LETA.

''Cases that have been assigned top priority, as is the Calovskis case, take a year at the most to review,'' she said.

Ziemele also emphasized that the ECHR does not rule whether a person is guilty or not, but whether their human rights are being observed.

As reported, Latvian government decided last week to extradite Latvian cyber-crimes suspect Deniss

Calovskis to the United States. However, The ECHR accepted a petition filed by attorneys for Calovskis and temporarily halted Calovskis' extradition to the United States until his case is reviewed by the Strasbourg court.
