According to a BSA study on global intellectual property, nearly a half of the software used in Estonia is pirated software and the measurable damages caused by software piracy amounted to nearly 17.5 million euros in 2010, LETA/Postimees Online reports.

In Latvia and Lithuania, the piracy level is also at around 50% while in Finland and Sweden it is 25%.

A global study by BSA in 2011 indicates that 71% of computer users support intellectual property rights but a half still use pirated software.

"Fortunately the attitude is quietly changing in Estonia, in 15 years, piracy has considerably decreased," said BSA representative in Estonia Kaido Uduste.
