BC, Vilnius, 18.03.2016.Print version
DFDS Seaways, a Lithuanian ferry operator that is part of the Danish shipping group DFDS, will put a third ferry into service between the Lithuanian port of Klaipeda and the Swedish port of Karlshamn early in April 2016, informs LETA/BNS.

“The decision has already been made. We plan to bring in the Patria Seaways on April 4. We hope we’ll manage to meet that existing customer demand in peak days. Moreover, we see certain growth in cargo flows,” Vaidas Klumbys, head of communications and public relations for the Baltic region at DFDS Seaways, told BNS.

The decision to put an additional ferry into service had been made in view of growing cargo flows to Sweden, he added.

The Patria Seaways, which can accommodate around 105 heavy trucks, was previously leased and served as a hotel for workers building offshore power plants in the North Sea.

DFDS Seaways now has four vessels in Lithuania.
