Latvian beach volleyball duo of Aleksandrs Samoilovs and Janis Smedins triumphed in the Corrientes Grand Slam tournament in Argentina on Sunday, informs LETA.

In the finals, the ninth-seeded Latvians beat Jake Gibb/Casey Patterson (United States) 2-0 (21:16, 21:19).

The winners of the tournament will each split USD 33,000 (LVL 18,000).

This is the fourth time that Latvian beach volleyball players compete in the final of a top-level tournament. In 2009, Samoilovs and Ruslans Sorokins placed second in the World Cup stage in Norway, in 2010 Smedins and Martins Plavins took silver in the World Cup's Marseilles stage, and gold in the final Grand Slam tournament in Poland last year.
