BC, Vilnius , 07.04.2020.Print version
LG Keleiviams, the passenger transportation subsidiary of Lithuania's state-run railway company Lietuvos Gelezinkeliai (Lithuanian Railwways), will temporarily suspend services on another 30 routes as of Wednesday but will ensure inter-city connection, the company said.
"We have temporarily suspended train services on a third – 76 out of 226 – of routes. As the number of passenger continues to drop, we are suspending services on another 30 routs as of April 8. The company optimized its operations taking into account passenger numbers and the need to maintain transportation to work and back," Linas Buazys, managing director at LG Keleiviams, said in a statement.
Train passenger numbers dropped 82% last week, from the same period last year. LG Keleiviams says it will ensure inter-city connection but passengers will undergo stricter checks.
