In 2019, foreign investors' readiness to increase investments in Latvia has risen, according to the FICIL Sentiment Index 2019 released today by the Foreign Investors' Council in Latvia (FICIL), citing LETA.
Like in previous studies, investors in Latvia were asked whether their companies plan to increase investments in Latvia.
Out of 47 respondents, 30 gave an affirmative answer. In 2018, 22 out of 40 investors were positive about planned investments, and in 2017 the positive answer was given by 24 out of 42 investors.
In 2019 survey, 12 investors said that they do not plan to increase investments while five said their decision will depend on circumstances.
FICIL Sentiment Index is an annual report which follows development of the investment climate in Latvia from the perspective of foreign investors, identifying the most significant challenges in the business environment. It is a qualitative study, based on in-depth interviews with investors, carried out by FICIL in cooperation with the Stockholm School of Economics in Riga (SSE Riga).
