Estonia: Bolt Food launches home delivery of groceries

BC, Tallinn, 16.03.2020.Print version
In addition to restaurant meals, Bolt Food, the food courier service of Estonian transport platform Bolt, also began delivering groceries on Monday, the first store with which an order for home delivery can be placed is retailer Westman in central Tallinn, informed LETA/BNS.

The delivery service covers all food products and household goods. Soon to be added to the platform are two more retailers, Selver and Stockmann.

"This is a new situation for everyone -- groceries' delivery services being overburdened. We want for people to be able to have the products they need also when they are unable to leave home. We're working on expanding the list of stores as quickly as possible," Maxim Milashenko, manager at Bolt Food Estonia, said in a press release.

Groceries are ordered through the Bolt Food app the same way as one would place an order through Bolt with a restaurant -- by choosing a retailer and selecting the necessary products. Prior to confirming the order, customers can also see the estimated time of delivery.

In addition to launching home delivery of groceries, Bolt also introduced last week contactless delivery as another anti-coronavirus measure. The latter means that couriers no longer come into direct contact with customers; instead they leave the order in a place designated by the customer.
