Windfarm Akmene One wins Lithuania's 1st green energy auction

BC, Vilnius, 16.01.2020.Print version
Lithuania's first technology-neutral green energy promotion auction has been won by Windfarm Akmene One, a foreign-owned company that plans to build an 18-turbine wind farm with a total capacity of 90-101 megawatts (MW) in the northern district of Akmene, writes LETA/BNS.

The National Energy Regulatory Council (VERT) announced Windfarm Akmene One as the winner of the auction on Thursday.

The winner will be allocated the entire annual production quota of 0.3 terawatt-hours (TWh) that was auctioned, but will receive no premium on top of the market price.

The winner was chosen from three wind energy developers that bid in the second stage of the auction.

The zero price premium means that the wind farm developer will basically operate under market conditions.

LETA/BNS reported last September that Windfarm Akmene One planned to start building wind turbines in 2020.

According to data from the Center of Registers, Windfarm Akmene One was founded in April 2018. Its shareholders are Swiss-registered Leofortis with 26.67%, Hong Kong-registered Saschokeconomics Limited with 40%, and German-registered Taktani with 33.335.

Several large wind energy developers currently operate in Lithuania, including Enefit Green, a subsidiary of Estonia's Eesti Energia, with a total installed capacity of around 140 MW, Ignitis Grupe with 54 MW and Amberwind with 73.5 MW.
