First time registration of passenger cars in Latvia up 0.2% in 11 months

The first-time registration of passenger cars picked up 0.2% y-o-y in the first 11 months of this year, as 62,650 cars were registered for the first time in Latvia during that period, according to the information from the Latvian Road Traffic Safety Directorate (CSDD) reports LETA.

The vehicles registered for the first time in Latvia in the 11 months of this year also include 8,653 trucks, up 7.9% against the same period a year ago, 325 buses, down 3.3 %, as well as 2,987 motorcycles and trikes, up 19%.


The list of vehicles registered for the first time in January-November 2018 also includes 1,648 scooters, down 9.7%, 153 quadbikes, down 10.5%, and 7,265 trailers and semi-trailers which is a growth by 18 % y-o-y.


The total number of transport vehicles registered in the 11 months of 2018 rose 2.6% y-o-y to 83,681.


In 2017, first-time registration of passenger cars in Latvia fell 12.3% from a year before to 68,081 autos.


CSDD is a state-owned enterprise registering motor vehicles in Latvia, issuing drivers' licenses and conducting road worthiness examinations of vehicles.
