Cargo turnover at Latvia's Skulte port grew by 11.6% in January-November

The Skulte port in north-eastern Latvia reloaded 765,400 tons of cargo in the first 11 months of this year, which is a rise by 11.6% from the same period last year, writes LETA, according to the information provided by the port.

In January-November 2017 the port reloaded 398,500 tons of timber or by 3% more than in the first 11 months of 2016. Woodchips were reloaded in the amount of 187,900 tons or 18.5% more year-on-year, and peat handling rose 57.6% to 124,700 tons.


In the first 11 months of this year, the Skulte port reloaded also 24,700 tons of grain, by 11.3% more, 14,900 tons of carbon dioxide (CO2), the same year-on-year, 6,000 tons of lime, up 62.1%, 4,300 tons of salt or by 46.3% less, and 4,400 tons of fish or up 4.7% from January-November 2016.


The annual cargo turnover at the Skulte port last year was 751,600 tons or by 28.4% more than in 2015.


There are three large and seven small ports in Latvia. The Skulte port is the largest of Latvia's small ports by the cargo turnover in 2016.
