Riga Airport to welcome 60 millionth passenger since restoration of independence

Riga International Airport is set to welcome its 60 millionth passenger since the restoration of Latvia’s independence next week, April 19, t the airport representative told BC.

Transport Minister Uldis Augulis, Riga Airport CEO Ilona Lice, airBaltic CEO Martin Gauss and the airport’s partners will be taking part in the welcoming ceremony, scheduled for 11 a.m. next Wednesday.


Riga International Airport is the largest air traffic hub in the Baltic states. More than 20 airlines operating at Riga Airport offer 60 destinations in the winter season and 80 in the summer season.


In 2016, Riga Airport handled 5.6 mln passengers, or nearly 45% of all air passengers in the Baltic states.
