Lithuania's average wholesale electricity price surged by 4 % last week from a weak earlier to 33.1 euros per megawatt-hour (MWh), Elektrum Lietuva said.
Electricity prices jumped across the Baltic region last
week, soaring by 40% to 33.3 euros in Estonia and by 39% to 33.1 euros in
Latvia. The average price on the Nord Pool power exchange rose by 30% to 12.7
euros, the independent electricity supplier said in a press release.
"Last week, weather conditions had the biggest impact
on electricity prices. Dryer and cooler weather brought the Nord Pool region's
wind power output by 43 % week-on-week," said Karolis Bagdonas,
corporate client manager at Elektrum Lietuva.
The three Baltic countries' total power consumption rose by
1% to 574 gigawatt-hours (GWh). Their overall electricity production increased
by 10% to 357 GWh, covering 62% of the region's needs.
