She indicated that Petersone-Godmane's security clearance for accessing state secrets has expired. The Constitution Protection Bureau is now deciding whether to extend the state secretary's security clearance allowing her to work with state secrets.

Petersone-Godmane is being vetted in accordance with the regular procedure and the process is not yet over. The vetting process is in the final stage and the Constitution Protection Bureau has yet to take its final decision. The vetting process will be concluded as soon as the Constitution Protection Bureau can comply with the requirements set out by the Constitutional Court in its February ruling.

Citing sources in the government, Latvian Television reported last Sunday that Petersone-Godmane's security clearance has not been renewed, which means that, most probably, she will not be able to stay in her current position.

Petersone-Godmane informed LETA that she is currently on vacation abroad and knows nothing about the reported refusal to extend her security clearance, which is why she cannot give any comments on that. The Interior Ministry's state secretary will be back in Latvia after the Easter holidays.

Interior Minister Rihards Kozlovskis  told LETA through his adviser Daiga Holma that as at today he had received no information concerning Petersone-Godmane's security clearance and for that reason could not give any comments on the issue.

Petersone-Godmane has been serving as the Interior Ministry’s state secretary since 2009.
