Latvia loses controversial match to Austria at World U-20 Men's Ice Hockey Championships

Print versionThe Latvian U-20 men's ice hockey team lost a controversial match at this year's World U-20 Men's Ice Hockey Championships to Austria today 1:2.
Patriks Zabusovs scored the lone goal for Latvia.
Italian referee Andrea Moschen penalized the Latvian squad 13 times during the match, while only penalizing Austria twice, which scored both goals on power-plays.
Latvia now needs to defeat Norway in its final match of the tournament on Sunday and hope that Austria loses points in its final match against Slovenia to win the tournament and earn promotion to the Elite Division next year.
Austria is currently leading the group with nine points heading into the final match, while Latvia is in second place with eight points.
