Lithuania's police said on Thursday it had launched two pre-trial investigations into allegedly fixed matches after the Lithuanian Football Federation sanctioned Klaipeda's Atlantas and Palanga's Palanga football clubs, informed lLETA/BNS.

"At this stage, we have two ongoing pre-trial investigations after one was dropped due to lack of evidence," Deputy Chief Police Commissioner General Edvardas Sileris told a press conference.

He also said suspicions had been brought against several persons as part of these investigations, without disclosing their exact number and providing more detail on the investigation.

Edgaras Stankevicius, secretary general of the Lithuanian Football federation, said 25 reports have been received from Sportradar, an agency providing federations and law enforcement agencies with a system for detecting betting related match fixing, on fixed matches this season.

Earlier this year, Atlantas and Palanga, both playing in the country's top league, were sanctioned for match-fixing, as well as several players and the director of one of the clubs.
