In recent days, redundancy reports have been received also from companies in the financial and insurance sector.

As reported, the State Employment Agency's director Evita Simsone told LETA that the number of jobless people registered with the State Employment Agency does not yet suggest of anything extraordinary.

Simsone said that there are still quite a few job vacancies registered with the agency, so the sacked workers can be offered new job opportunities, particularly in sectors like transport, construction and IT.

She admitted that the situation with airBaltic employees is much more complicated because there are no aviation-related jobs available in Latvia at the moment. "We have nothing to offer to flight attendants or pilots," Simsone said.
