Job vacancies in Lithuania rise 7.7% in 2019
In the fourth quarter from the third quarter, the number of
vacancies fell by 5.4%, the statistics office said.
The largest quarterly decreases in job vacancy numbers were
recorded in wholesale and retail trade (by 500), construction (200), and
accommodation and food service activities, and administrative and support
service activities (100 each).
The transport sector and the information and communication
sector each saw an increase of 100 in job vacancies over the quarter.
The largest number of job vacancies was registered in
manufacturing (4,400, or 25.5% of the total number), followed by public
administration, defense and social insurance (2,500, 14.2%), and wholesale and
retail trade (2,000, 11.5%).
The country's job vacancy rate stood at 1.1% in late 2019,
down by 0.1 %age points from the third quarter, but unchanged in y-o-y
terms.
