EVR Cargo transport volume decreased by 1% in 11 months

Estonian state-owned rail freight company EVR Cargo's transport volume grew by 14.7% in November 2014 compared to last year, to 1.46 million tonnes; eleventh months' total volume 14.2 million tonnes remains 1.1% below last year's cargo volume, Äripäev.ee/LETA reports.

EVR Cargo Board Chairman Ahto Altjõe said that in November, the increase of oil products transport volume continued. "As in previous years, during the winter period, the transport volume of liquid mineral fuels is higher than usual," said Altjõe.

 

The transport of liquid mineral fuels grew by 33% in November in a year to 599,000 tonnes.

 

Transport of oil shale fell by 7.3% to 235,000 tonnes year-on-year, that of chemical goods grew by 18.5% to 310,000 tonnes and that of fertilisers 27% to 122,000 tonnes.


Container cargo transport continued to grow, by 2.4% year-on-year to 5,574 TEU in November.

 

Transit freight volume was 33% higher than in November last year, reaching 1.06 million tonnes, accounting for nearly 73% of the total volume EVR Cargo.
