Linava: tightened Lithuanian vehicle inspection will be temporary

BC, Vilnius, 25.11.2014.Print version
The Lithuanian National Road Carriers' Association Linava says it has received an internal-use document of the Russian customs which sets out orders to apply stricter inspection to Lithuanian vehicles and cargos temporarily, informs LETA/ELTA.

Linava said today in a press release that the internal document was made public on Monday evening.

According to Linava sources, stricter inspection will be applied temporary but specific dates were not given.

As reported, this weekend and Monday, Russia started applying a much stricter inspection procedure to cars with Lithuanian registration plates, also vehicles with goods of Lithuania's companies or goods re-exported by Lithuania's companies.

Russia has explained that the decision to pay particular attention to Lithuania's vehicles and cargos was made because "illegal embargo goods" were being brought in across the border.
