Latvian Nordeka bus drivers on strike but nothing cancelled

Print versionAbout 15 drivers from the inter-city bus company Nordeka are on the picket line for a second day in a wage dispute, but as the company informed LETA on November 8th, all routes are running as scheduled.

A spokesman for the labor union LABA reported that management refused a compromise option on the drivers' wage hike demand, hence the action.
22 drivers had been slotted for the work stoppage, but not all are taking part.
A representative for the labor
union LABA promised that the strike will last until the management of Nordeka will not fulfill the requirements of the trade union
and raise the minimum hourly rate of drivers’ pay by at least 25%.
