Cargo transport at Estonian railways plunged in September
In the first nine months of the year, 13.9 million tonnes of cargo was transported. The year-on-year fall was 24.3% in nine months.
The result was affected most by the volume of oil and oil products, which fell nearly 50% in September.
In nine months, 7.08 million tonnes of oil and oil products was transported, by 40% less than last year. Oil shale handling fell by 4.7% to 1.86 million tonnes in nine months. The transport of fertilizers grew by 15.2% to 2.48 million tonnes.
Transit cargo transport fell by 28.8% and formed 10.15 million tonnes in nine months. Container transport totalled 57,233 TEU in the first nine months, by 27.5% more than last year.
EVR Cargo transport volume in nine months was 11.36 million tonnes, a fall of 3.8% in a year. E.R.S. transported 2.53 million tonnes of goods, a fall by 61.3%.
