TV3 show: Sudraba and father of a Russian spy traveled to Moscow by private plane together

BC, Riga, 22.09.2014.Print version
Former Auditor General Inguna Sudraba – the leader of the For Latvia From the Heart political party – traveled to Moscow by a private plane several years ago together with Alexander Rogozhin, whose son was expelled from Latvia for spying, the TV3 show "Neka personiga" reported on Sunday, reports LETA.

A recording of Sudraba and Rogozhin going aboard the plane is available on Youtube, however, Sudraba explicitly denied that the person in the video was her, and that this is yet another attempt to defame her using fabrication and edited material.

"This is not me. [..] You know, I am not surprised at all about the fact that there are all sorts of materials appearing all the time, stories are made up, and photographs are posted. This video is not connected with me in any way. This is yet another attempt to defame me," Sudraba told "Neka personiga".

Another fellow passenger seen in the video, businessman Ivars Strautins told "Neka personiga" that he had visited Moscow together with Sudraba several times.

The specific flight also involved Rogozhin. His son – also named Alexander Rogozhin – used to work for the Russian Embassy in Riga, and was officially involved in issuing visas. Later on it turned out that his actual work was spying for Russia. In 2008, Rogozhin Junior was expelled from Latvia and declared persona non grata, "Neka personiga" reports.

Sudraba later told LETA that "spreading of such "documentaries" by anonymous operators repeatedly confirms that the pre-election period is rife with massive defamation campaigns using even the most questionable methods."

For Latvia From the Heart urges the media to find the author of the video to establish the actual circumstances and truth behind this material.
