Half Lithuanian drivers use non-hands-free telephones while driving - survey

Every second driver disregards the ban to use a non-hands-free telephone while driving, a survey carried out by Lithuanian non-life insurance company Lietuvos Draudimas has revealed, informs LETA/ELTA.

The survey included over 9,000 Lithuanian drivers.


According to the results of the survey, 50.3 percent of the drivers use non-hands-free telephones while driving, while every tenth (10.4 percent) of the polled drivers violates this rule nearly every time when driving.


The survey conducted by Lietuvos Draudimas also has revealed that this practice is most often observed among drivers aged 26-35, while drivers over 56 rarely use non-hands-free telephones while driving.


In general, men (58.1 percent) tend to use non-hands-free telephones while driving more often than women (39.3 percent).
