Since June 30, when the State Police began inspecting vehicles and persons in the area hit by African swine fever, a total of 15,785 automobiles have been checked, the State Police informed LETA.

Police officers are constantly carrying out inspections throughout the region. About 1,000 vehicles are inspected daily.

During the inspections, police officers have registered three attempts to transport meat outside the affected area. The police had also come across an ad on the Internet offering piglets from the area hit by the epidemic.

As reported, due to quarantine in Kraslava and Dagda regions, it is prohibited to sell and transport pigs and pork outside the quarantine zone.

Noncompliance with the rules carries a fine of EUR 7 to EUR 350.
