The author of the new stamp is Ausrele Ratkeviciene. The stamp will be issued in the edition of 80 thousand copies with a nominal value of LTL 1.35 (EUR 0.40).

Along with the new stamp, the first day cover will be released. On Saturday at Kaunas Main Post Office postal correspondence paid by the stamp dedicated to the Song Festival will be marked by the first day cancellation.

The first Song Festival was arranged between the 23rd and 25th of August 1924 in Kaunas' Petras Vileisis Square during the Agricultural and Industry Exhibition. It used to be called The Day of Songs, and only choruses took part. Then 77 choruses (3 thousand singers) performed in front of 50 thousand listeners.

In 1950, The Day of Songs was supplemented by the Day of Dances. The festival was created by 57 dance groups, 41 ensembles playing panpipes, and 13 orchestras of wind-instruments. The children's chorus consisted of 3570 singers.

With restoration of Lithuania's independence, the 13th Lithuania Song Festival arranged in 1990 was called national. Since 1990, the event is organized every 4 years at the beginning of July.
