The subsidiary company Liepajas osta LM, which is owned by the now-defunct Liepajas metalurgs, in 2013 suffered losses in the amount of EUR 5,198,408, according to information provided by Firmas.lv, cites LETA/Nozare.lv.

In 2012, the company operated with a profit of EUR 1,593,123.

The amount of the company's turnover has decreased by a half – in 2012 the turnover was EUR 32,359,998, while in 2013 it was EUR 16,165,089.

The company's management report indicates that in 2013, Liepajas osta LM has transferred 1.47 million tons of cargo, which is 44.9% less than in 2012.

The company's net turnover in 2013, had decreased in all sectors – stevedores, expeditors, ship assignation and freightage service sectors.

Liepajas osta LM explains its losses with the fact that the cargo structure significantly changed due to a full stoppage of Liepajas metalurgs freight traffic. Taking this into account, the company has made savings for dubious and unsafe creditors, making 42% of the full amount of losses in 2013.

This year, the court imposed legal remedy on Liepajas osta LM, during which the company hopes to increase its income, reduce the expenses and pay off the debts.
