Kaunas to have more public minibuses

In Kaunas, minibuses have become an integral part of the public transport. After the competition of a tender on transporting passengers in public minibuses, the company Kautra was announced a winner and stated the intention to release 70 new comfortable buses on roads of the city, LETA reports, referring to Lietuvos Zinios.

Kautra managers plan to offer residents of Kaunas a whole new transportation quality.

 

Our goal is to provide to the public sufficient quality of transport. The minibuses and other transport means should not go the same route, and minibuses are ought to have a regular schedule. Terms and conditions of of the tender, which must be fulfilled by transport operators, were rather serious," said the head of Kaunas City Municipal Transport and Traffic Operations Department Paulius Keras.

 

Kaunas-based transport company Kautra is entitled to operate all seven routes in Kaunas, and the company is going to launch the first brand-new, low-floor minibuses on the streets of Kaunas starting from August 1, 2014.

 

A total of 70 new transport means are going to service passengers starting from December 21, 2014.

 

The company is going to provide modern low-floor vehicles with GPS and friendly for disabled persons.
