The volume of export and import of goods in Latvia increased, transit – decreased

Print version25.023 million tons of freight were transported by rail in Latvia in January-May 2013, 12.7% less than in the first five months of 2012, the Transport Ministry's Transit Policy Department informed LETA/Nozare.lv.

In January-May 2012, 28.655 million tons of freight were transported by rail.
Export transportation volumes grew 62.4% and reached 1.4 million tons in the first five months of 2013, import transportation volumes rose 32.2% and exceeded 2 million tons.
The volume of transit freight transported through Latvian ports reduced from 23.2 million tons in January-May 2012 to 20 million tons in January-May 2013.
Transit transportation volumes fell 17.9% and amounted to 21.3 million tons.
Domestic transportation volumes decreased 3.4% to 396,500 tons, international transportation volumes fell 12.8% to 24.6 million tons.
