Dombrovskis and Mitsubishi heads discuss logistics opportunities in Latvia

During a meeting with the heads of the Mitsubishi Corporation in Japan today, Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis (Unity) spoke about logistics and transit opportunities in Latvia, as the premier's press secretary Martins Panke informed LETA.

Transit and logistics opportunities offered by Latvian ports were discussed during Dombrovskis' meeting with Mitsubishi Vice President Hideto Nahakara. Dombrovskis also informed about the opportunities and challenges posed by the Latvian economic development.

 

On the other hand, during a meeting with Hitachi Corporation Vice President Koji Tanaka, Dombrovskis informed about business opportunities in Latvia and energy matters in the country. Latvia is currently working on several alternative in order to reduce electricity costs to residents and companies, said Dombrovskis.

 

Also today, Dombrovskis and his delegation had a meeting with former Japanese Foreign Minister Hirofumi Nakasone, now chairman of the Japan-Latvia Friendship Society in the Japanese parliament, to talk about Latvia's goal of joining the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development and the euro area, and about Latvia's economic development. Nakasone, in turn, praised Latvia's achievements in exiting the crisis.
