Today, the board of Riga International Airport decided to turn to the State Police with a request to investigate indications of possible criminal activities carried out on a consistent basis by one of the taxi companies serving the airport, the business information portal Nozare.lv was informed by airport spokesman Sarmite Rinmane.

''At the same time, the airport has decided not to renew its contract with the tax company until the investigation has been completed. From September 15, only two taxi companies will be able to serve the airport,'' Rinmane said.

She said the name of the taxi company in question will not be made public at this moment.

Rinmane added that the airport's Chairman of the Board Arnis Luhse has received information from the media that one of the taxi companies serving the airport has been carrying out suspicious financial activities, which could seriously influence the airport's reputation.

Three taxi companies currently serve Riga International Airport – Baltic Taxi, Rigas taksometru parks and Riga Taxi.
