Of Baltic ports, only Latvian ports achieve higher cargo turnover in H1

Of all Baltic ports, only the Latvian ports achieved higher cargo turnover in the first half-year in 2012, according to data compiled by the Nozare.lv business portal.

Klaipeda Port in Lithuania handled 20.2 million tons of cargo, a 10.4% decrease from the first six months last year, whereas Tallinn Port's cargo turnover reached 15.87 million tons – a 17.5% fall, writes LETA.

 

As reported, cargo turnover at Latvian ports reached 40.34 million tons in the first six months of 2012, 17.1% more than in the respective period in 2011, according to the Transport Ministry's data.

 

The Freeport of Riga handled 18.7 million tons of cargo in January-June 2012. The Freeport of Ventspils handled 17.3 million tons, while the Port of Liepaja – 3.5 million tons.
