Estonian Post to continue dominating the market

Print versionAlthough the postal market that will be opened in Estonia in three months will make it possible for all postal enterprises deliver letters of up to 50 grams to recipients, Eesti Post (Estonian Post) will continue dominating the market, writes the National Broadcasting.

It is considered likely that competitors will not want to start providing the universal service. Last year Estonian Post earned a loss of nearly 40 million kroons with the universal service.
CEO of Estonian Post Ahti Kallaste also believes that as the market opens, the provision of the universal postal service will be borne by Estonian Post. According to him, the prices of sending letters and the accessibility of the service will not change.
As is the case for other State-owned enterprises, the Government is to discuss selling Estonian Post as well.
