The department's former acting director, Vitalijs Reinbahs, according to his request, will continue to work as the Passenger Transportation Administration's chief. Reinbahs expressed desire to return to his former position "due to personal reasons" last week, writes LETA.
Reinbahs also suggested Uplejs as the Traffic Department's new director, taking into account his past experience in administrative work and experience as a lawyer.
As reported, the department's former director, Edgars Strods, became Rigas udens board member in February. Later on, Reinbahs became the department's acting director. However, a new director was not considered, since Traffic and Transport Committee Chairman Vadims Baranniks (Harmony Center) was satisfied with Reinbahs' performance. Nevertheless, opposition deputies doubted the department's capability of being fully operational, pointing at several shortcomings and carelessness in the department's work since Strods' resignation.
