Stationary speed cameras in Latvia have already recorded 2,846 speed violations in first week

The 23 stationary speed cameras which started operating in Riga and outside the city last week have already recorded 2,846 speeding violations, LETA was informed by State Police spokeswoman Lita Juberte.

As reported, 23 stationary speed cameras began operating in Riga and outside the city today on May 24.

 

Warning signs before the speed cameras have been set up as well, writes LETA.

 

The speed cameras have been installed in Babite Region – on the 16th kilometer of the Riga-Ventspils highway, Olaine Region – the 14th, 20.5th and 28th kilometers of the Riga-Jelgava-Lithuanian border (Meitene) highway, Marupe Region – the 30th kilometer of the Salaspils-Babite highway, Jaunolaine, Kekava Region – the fourth kilometer of the Kekava-Skaistkalne highway.

 

Several cameras have also been set up in Riga – on Salu, Vansu, Southern, Zemitanu and Vairogu bridges, as well as at 363 Brivibas Street.

 

The speed cameras have also come into operation in Adazi Region – on the Riga-Estonian border (Baltezers-Ainazi) highway, Baltezers, Carnikava Region, Sejas Region – the fourth kilometer of the Incukalns-Valmiera-Estonian border highway, Koceni Region – the 58.9th kilometer of the Incukalns-Valmiera-Estonian border highway, Broceni Region – the 85th kilometer of the Riga-Liepaja highway, Marupe Region – the 6.4th kilometer of the Riga Marupe highway.

 

LETA also reported, under the contract, private company Vitronic Baltica and partneri is to supply and install 160 stationary speed cameras, including 100 functional cameras and 60 empty shells, as well as provide operations of 30 mobile cameras.
