Free public transportation for all Riga school children to start from September

Print versionToday, Riga City Council members supported free public transportation for Riga school children from grades 1-12 from September 1.

Previously, only school children from grades 1-4 were permitted to ride Riga public transportation for free, writes LETA.
With today's decision, the Riga City Council will increase subsidies to the municipal public transportation company Rigas satiksme by LVL 1.17 million this year, and LVL 3.17 million next year.
Furthermore, according to today's decision, vocational education students will receive a 60% discount on public transportation fares.
