The price of 95-octane gas has
reached LVL 0.979 per liter, diesel – LVL 0.969 per liter, informs LETA.
Meanwhile, the price of 95-octane gas at Neste
filling stations has increased from LVL 0.962 to LVL 0.967 per liter, diesel is
still at LVL 0.957 per liter. The lowest gasoline price at Lukoil filling stations remains at LVL 0.945 per liter, diesel –
LVL 0.948 per liter.
Statoil Latvija representative Kaspars Skrabans explained that gasoline and diesel prices in Europe are still high and continue to increase. Gasoline costs above USD 1,010 (LVL 531) per ton, whereas the price for diesel fuel exceeds USD 1,000 (LVL 526) per ton.
Skrabans pointed out that the main reasons for the increasing fuel prices are tensions in the Persian Gulf, the sanctions and oil embargo imposed on Iran by the European Union, unexpectedly good macroeconomic indicators in the United States and Europe's freezing temperatures.
